Strong cold spell hits northern region

A strong cold spell is covering the northern and northern-central regions of Vietnam from Thursday, bringing down temperatures to between 18-21 degrees Celsius in lowland areas and below 17 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the two regions will see cold weather and heavy rains until October 30.


Strong wind will cause higher ocean waves of between 1.5-3.0 metres in the Gulf of Tonkin during these days.

Hanoi will see heavy rains and cold weather from October 28-30.
