Street designated for walking and shopping

January 10 welcomed the opening of a new street at Ninh Kieu Wharf in Can Tho, devoted to people and shopping, not cars. Hundreds of locals and foreigners gathered eagerly to walk around on the newly dedicated street for walking and shopping.

Many people visit and do shopping on the new walking street.

According to DTiNews' observation, there were dozens of booths selling a wide arrangement of clothes, footwear and souvenirs set up along two roads, Nguyen Thai Hoc and Vo Van Tan, before the official opening.

People were pleased to be touring this new walking street in Can Tho thanks to its convenient location at Ninh Kieu Wharf and the upcoming Tet holiday. A pedestrian, named Yen (living in Cai Khe commune) was excited to share, “With Tet holiday coming I think it’s quite interesting to walk on the street like this as I can buy something here for the occasion”.

These booths sell products with reasonable prices, fluctuating from VND10,000 (US$0.54) to VND100,000(US$5.4) for each item. Locals and foreigners alike are now flocking here to walk and shop.

The area for eating and drinking shops attract lots of visitors

Besides clothing and footwear booths, there are also some eating and drinking shops, serving many delicious foods like crabs, snails and other traditional dishes. There was excitement in the air as people enjoyed the newly opened area.

“Walking street, eating and drinking, night market” project owned by Dia Cau Commercial and Service Ltd. Company with total budget of over VND4,5 billion (US$243,572), opening from about 4PM previous day to 4AM next day.

As expected, this project will attract both local and foreign visitors to come in Can Tho with an increase by 20 percent. Moreover, night market at Ninh Kieu wharf also creates opportunities for about 500 employees.
