Samsung Electronics Vietnam has asked the General Department of Vietnam Customs for preferential treatment for the import of new Galaxy Note 7s to replace faulty phones for customers.

Samsung wants preferential Galaxy Note 7 imports
Samsung Electronics Vietnam wants to use the customs procedure and preferential treatments for temporary imports to replace the phones for customers as soon as possible. They hope that the General Department of Vietnam Customs will provide favourable condition such as simpler procedures.
Last month, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued advice to customers to stop using the high-end smartphone, Galaxy Note7 after Samsung Group announced the fire hazards and officially recalled and stopped selling the device on September 3.
Samsung reported that the batteries were overheating and could catch fire while charging or using the phone. 12,633 devices were sold in Vietnam from August 19 to September 7.
The Samsung Electronics factory in Thai Nguyen Province also produced the products and joined in the product recall. Samsung Electronics Vietnam will import the new devices and replace faulty ones for customers at service centres.
Current regulations state that temporarily imported goods for repairs and re-exporting are exempted from import and value-added taxes. According to Samsung Electronics Vietnam such situation can be applied to their case which is a large amount of devices need to be imported in short time.
