Reckless driver faces punishment

The National Traffic Safety Committee has asked authorities in Ca Mau Province to strictly punish a passenger bus driver who drove using his feet on the steering wheel on a highway.

Ca Mau Traffic Safety Committee said they had received directives to investigate the case on June 28 and punish the violators. According to the National Traffic Safety Committee, the driver's action seriously violated traffic rules and endangered lives.

On June 27, a video clip was uploaded online and stirred public anger. In the video, the passenger bus driver sat leisurely on his seat, using his feet on the steering wheel while driving the bus on the road.

  

The driver was running on Trung Luong- Ho Chi Minh City highway

The bus belongs to Tuan Hiep Transportation Company in Ca Mau which was running on Ca Mau-Dong Nai-Nhon Trach-Phu Thanh route. It was running on Trung Luong-HCM City highway when the video was recorded.

Many people showed anger at the irresponsible driver. Ha Van Khoi, manager at Tuan Hiep Company, confirmed that the driver, Nguyen Duy Hieu, had been working for the company for several years. The driver has been suspended for investigation. Khoi said they would submit a report to the Department of Transportation.

According to an official at the Department of Transport, Tuan Hiep Company hadn't committed any previous violations.
