The Vietnamese Foreign Ministry's Vice Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang told local media on October 11 that the ministry were deeply concerned about the case.
"We’ve asked both the Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing and the Vietnamese Consulate in Shanghai, China to contact with local authorities to find more information about the case," Hang said. "And the Vietnamese Consulate in Shanghai have worked with Police in Jiangsu Province to arrange a meeting with the girl. We'll provide update information about the investigation soon."
A source told Dantri/DTiNews that the Ministry of Public Security has also sent a team to work on the case of a Vietnamese 12-year-old girl called Lan Lan who was just found pregnant at a hospital in East China’s Jiangsu Province.
Police in Quanshan district came to suspect the young girl had been abducted after receiving a call from the hospital.
China National Radio reported that a woman named Xie from Central China’s Henan Province abducted the girl and sold her to a 40-year-old Xuzhou man surnamed Liu in 2014.
Xie and Liu initially told doctors they were the girl’s relatives on October 4. Doctors found the girl, whom Xie and Liu claimed to be 20, was three months pregnant.
The girl, who lacked any identification, told doctors she was a foreigner, The Beijing News reported.
Xie and Liu have been both arrested for further investigations on child trafficking, Chinese Global Times reported on Saturday.
Colonel Ho Sy Tien, director of the Criminal Police Department said that they are working with Chinese police on the investigation.
