Oil has been found drifting onto a beach in the southern coastal city of Nha Trang over the past two days.

Director of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Nguyen Van Dong told Dantri/Dtinews on Thursday that they have asked concerned agencies to clear the oil on a beach near Tran Phu Street and find out where it came from.

According to the official, the black oil started appearing on the 3-kilometre beach two days ago. It has covered the beach in thick layers.
"Workers from the Nha Trang Urban Environment Company have come and collected tonnes of oil on the beach," he said. "It took a lot of time to clean the beach."

Head of the Nha Trang Bay Management Board, Huynh Binh Thai, also said that oil was found at Hon Mun Marine Protected Area.
"We have sent divers to the sea to find where the oil came from but there was no trace," Thai said. "There has been no oil spill or boat sinkings reported in the area."
