According to the ministry's report, 11,168 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 35 localities including HCM City TPHCM (5,446), Binh Duong (3,651), Dong Nai (768), Long An (327), Tien Giang (161), and Tay Ninh (142). There were four imported patients confirmed today.
The new infection number showed a fall of 301 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 5,926 infections found in the community.
As of Monday evening, 620,165 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April, with some southern localities recording high infections such as HCM City (303,475), Binh Duong (160,669), Dong Nai (35,584), Long An (28,486), and Tien Giang (12,366). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 624,547. The country now stands 49th among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On September 13, an additional 11,200 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 385,778.
On Monday evening, a further 381 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 15,660. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (228), Dong Thap (57), Binh Duong (41), An Giang (23), Dong Nai (10), Long An (7), Tien Giang (5), Dong Thap (5), Can Tho (3), Khanh Hoa (2), Danang (2), Phu Yen (1), Binh Thuan (1), and Ba Ria - Vung Tau (1).
The country has so far conducted over 29.28 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 5.32 million people having received two doses.
