This information was released by Associate Professor and composer Do Hong Quan, Ph.D., who is also Chairman of Vietnam Musicians’ Association, at a press briefing in Hanoi on October 5.

The festival will feature the participation of nearly 200 artists and musicians from 30 countries and territories around the world, including Vietnam, the UK, Poland, Canada, Colombia, Chinese Taipei, France, Australia, Spain and Turkey.

Themed “Music—Convergence and Pervasion,” the festival will introduce the latest compositions by musicians representing schools of contemporary music from around the world.

The event will feature eleven major concerts with more than 100 performances in various genres, including symphonic music, auditorium, traditional music, opera, ballet, chorus and youth music.

On the occasion of the event, two forums themed “New Musical Exchanges between Asian and European Countries” and “Vietnam’s Dan bau (‘Monochord’)” will also be held.

Musician Quan emphasised that the important music event would be a good opportunity for Vietnamese artists and musicians to introduce the achievements of Vietnam’s revolutionary and contemporary music, as well as to learn more about development trends in Asian and European music.

The festival and conference are also expected to promote the land, people and traditional culture of Vietnam to foreign friends, contributing to tightening the relations between the host and other countries in Asia–Pacific region and the world.

The first Asia–Europe New Music Festival was held in October 2014.
