Radioactive cloud from the quake-damaged Fukushima reactor explosions in Japan does not affect Vietnam’s mainland, the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology said on March 26.
The ministry said that on Mar. 25 and 26, the cloud went cross the southern part of the Philippines archipelagos and is forecast to arrive in Indonesia and Malaysia in the next few days.
On Mar. 25 the cloud flew near Vietnam ’s Ca Mau Cape off the southern most province of Ca Mau , but it did not enter the mainland.
It announced that by the end of Mar. 25, no radioactive dispersion had been discovered in the country.
In an effort to help the Japanese people to overcome difficulties and losses caused by the natural disasters, during these days, Vietnamese people across the country have taken part in campaigns to help Japanese victims.
The Red Cross Society of Ho Chi Minh City on Mar. 25 handed over 16 million yen to Japanese Consul General Hida Harumitsu.
The same day, it launched a campaign to further raise funds for Japanese victims, which will run until April 15.
In similar campaigns, the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau raised over 550 million VND and the southern province of Vinh Long mobilised nearly 540 million VND for Japanese victims.
