Liem qualifies for world chess champs finals |
He will join 16 other players including the tournament’s defending champion, another player assigned by the FIDE chairman, nine of the top Grandmasters in the World Chess Federation (FIDE) Elo ratings announced last January, three other players from the qualifying round and two players from the hosts.
The list of competitors is as follows: Magnus Carlsen (Elo 2835), Teimour Radjabov (Elo 2784), Sergey Karjakin (Elo 2779), Alexander Morozevich (Elo 2769), Vassily Ivanchuk (Elo 2764), Alexander Grischuk (Elo 2761), Veselin Topalov (Elo 2752), Peter Svidler (Elo 2741), Boris Gelfand (Elo 2727), Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Elo 2726), Viktor Bologan (Elo 2556), Rinat Jumabayev (Elo 2556), Pvel Kotsur (Elo 2548), Dmitry Andreikin (Elo 2700), Nikolai Chadaev (Elo2605) and Le Quang Liem (Elo 2693).
The Elo rankings stated here are for blitz chess only. The FIDE is adjusting its rating system beginning this July and will assign every player three different Elo ratings, one each for standard, rapid and blitz chess.
Liem is in Karaganda now to attend the 2012 Kazakhstan Rapid Chess Open on July 5-8 as a preparation for the World Championships that follow, said his trainer Lam Minh Chau.
