The Market Surveillance Team 4, in coordination with concerned agencies in Phu Yen, uncovered a seafood facility in Song Cau Town pumping agar jelly into 45 kilogrammes of dead lobsters on Sunday.

The facility’s owner personally injected agar jelly into the dead lobsters. She admitted to buying dead lobsters and injecting them. Her facility also operated without a valid business licence.
Local market inspectors confiscated all related materials and referred the case to the Song Cau Town People’s Committee, which later imposed an administrative fine of VND 11.5 million (USD 441).
The business owner was also ordered to bury 45 kilogrammes of dead lobsters under the supervision of the inspection team. The destroyed goods were worth an estimated VND 22 million.
