Japan tops Vietnam’s guest worker destinations

Vietnam dispatched 23,195 workers abroad in the first two months of this year, with 17,000 heading to Japan, reports the Department of Overseas Labour under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

Vietnam dispatched 23,195 workers abroad in the first two months of this year, with 17,000 heading to Japan, reports the Department of Overseas Labour under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

The department is actively negotiating to broaden the scope of professions and open up labour markets in countries such as South Korea, Germany, and Australia, aiming to expand opportunities for Vietnamese workers.

Efforts to enhance opportunities for guest workers will continue in collaboration with South Korea, Germany, and Australia.

Vietnam aims to send approximately 125,000 workers abroad this year.

In 2023, the country exceeded its target by sending 159,986 workers overseas, surpassing the goal of 120,000. Japan emerged as the top destination for Vietnamese guest workers in the year with 80,000 workers, followed by Taiwan and South Korea, receiving 58,000 and 11,000 workers, respectively.
