Hoan Kiem District authorities in Hanoi has ordered all wards and localities to prevent illegal pavement encroachment, especially spontaneous parking lots.

In the run-up to Tet, people often flock to Hoan Kiem Lake and surrounding areas. In order to meet the demand, Hoan Kiem People's Committee has asked the Department of Transport and relevant agencies to set up more parking lots near popular locations such as August Revolution Square.

The police were asked to deal with unlicensed parking lots and parking violations. Parking lots that force drivers to pay high fees will be strictly punished.
