Hanoi plans to construct a pedestrian tunnel connecting Tran Nguyen Han Street and Chuong Duong Do Street in Hoan Kiem District.
Construction of the VND100 billion (USD4 million) pedestrian tunnel is scheduled to start this year.
The 18.25 metres-wide, 3.20 metres-high, and 15.70 metres long pedestrian tunnel will connect the two streets separated by several other busy streets. Its automated doors open and close to ensure flood drainage.
Following the project, the city will also plant more green trees near the tunnel and broaden a section of Chuong Duong Do Street that connects the Hong (Red) River Dyke and Bach Dang Street to about 17m.
