Dao Vinh Thuan, 37, who is a traffic inspector will be dismissed from November for violating work discipline, being absent from work without permission and assaulting a woman, the department's director, Vu Van Vien announced at a meeting on Monday in Hanoi.
Thuan’s action seriously affects the image of state employees from the Hanoi transport department, Vien added.
The incident took place at 2 pm on October 19, when Thuan and his friend, Tran Duong Tung arrived late for a Vietnam Airlines flight to HCM City.
Nguyen Le Quynh Anh, a Vietnam Airlines airport service deputy and a staff instructed Thuan and Tung to go to another counter to complete procedures for another flight. But, the two men became angry and insulted the staff.
Anh used her mobile phone to film the incident and was then grabbed by Thuan. Tung rushed to hit her in the head. The case was recorded by the airport security camera.
Anh was taken to hospital for a medical check-up.
The case stirred a public uproar right after the airport CCVT footage was published in the local media. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has ordered an investigation into the case.
The Hanoi authorities have asked the police to continue investigations and give proper punishment to the two passengers.
