A young man in Hanoi has tested positive again for Covid-19 after being released from a local hospital nearly two months ago.
The 21-year-old man, who is a student from Russia, entered Vietnam on August 10. During the quarantine time in the northern province of Hai Duong, he tested positive for the second time and was sent to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi on August 25. He stayed at the hospital until September 17.
After exiting the hospital, he quarantined himself at home for two weeks and only had close contact with his relatives and girlfriend, using face masks. Later, he attended a training course at Hanoi University where he ensured the distance of two metres from his classmates, but did not wear face masks.
Leaving the school, he came home directly and did not go to any public places.
On November 7, he came to Hanoi Transport Hospital and was diagnosed with viral fever. He was instructed for self-treatment at home. One week afterwards, he continued having high fever and went to hospital for an examination again. The hospital sent his blood sample to the National Children's Hospital for a Covid-19 test. On Sunday, the result showed that he was re-infected with the virus.
The Hanoi's Centre for Disease Control has defined 25 people who had come into close contact with him, consisting of his relatives and girlfriend and 20 staff from the hospital.
The centre has continued identifying cases related to the patient.
By Sunday evening, Vietnam had recorded a total of 1,281 Covid-19 cases with 35 deaths.
