The incident occurred on Hoang Hoa Tham Street in Tay Ho District at around 5 pm on Thursday when powerful winds uprooted trees.
The man killed by falling tree
The victim named Nguyen Huu Huan, 27, from Bac Tu Liem District was hit by one of the falling trees when driving his motorbike on the street. He died on the spot.
Trees also fell in many other streets in Hanoi, including Pham Ngoc Thach, Hao Nam and Hoang Quoc Viet, severely blocking traffic.
On Hao Nam Street, a big tree suddenly collapsed, striking two motorbike drivers. Luckily, no one was injured.
Earlier this month, a falling tree killed one man on a street in Hanoi’s Cau Giay Street following torrential rains and winds.
