Mai Hoa Commune police said on October 5 that they had coordinated with the Vu Quang Forest Ranger Unit and Vu Quang National Park to receive a 9kg python voluntarily handed over by a local resident.

The python was found by Tran Dinh Chinh, 60, of An Phu Village, Mai Hoa Commune, while he was checking his fields.
After receiving the animal, authorities completed the required procedures for its handover and handling in accordance with regulations.
The python is listed in Group IIB under Vietnam's regulations on the management and protection of forest wildlife.
Authorities urged residents who encounter wild, endangered or rare animals not to keep, buy, sell or transport them illegally.
Instead, they should notify the authorities and hand the animals over for proper handling in accordance with the law.
