Of the total, the number of tourist air arrivals reached more than 6.7 million, up 31.1% compared to the same period of 2015; sea arrivals reached over 121,000, down 14.9%; and road arrivals reached over 1.2 million, up 4.6%.
Almost all markets of Vietnamese tourism witnessed an increase of visitors compared to the same period of 2015, such as Hong Kong (China) with 72.5%; China with 55.2%; the Republic of Korea with 40.1%; New Zealand with 35,0%; Thailand with 30,8%; Italy with 30,3%; Spain with 27,3%; Russia with 27,1%; Holland with 24,2%; Sweden with 22,3%; the UK with 21,7%; Germany with 18,5%; Lao with 18%; Chinese Taipei with 15,9%; Malaysia with 15,6%; the US with 14,2%; France with 13,3% and Japan with 10,8%.Also in the first ten months of this year, the number of domestic visitors also reached 53.3 million.
Total revenues from tourists during the first ten months of this year is estimated at VND331.5 trillion, up 19.1 % over the same period in 2015.
Only in October, 2016, Vietnam welcomed over 812,000 international visitors, a year-on-year increase of 23.2% despite recording a decline of 0.1% compared to September. Of the figure, the number of tourist air arrivals reached over 668,000, accounting for 82.3%; sea arrivals reached over 10,000, accounting for 1.3% and road arrivals reached over 133,000, accounting for 16.4%.
