Many fishermen in Xuong Dien Village started work on the fourth day of the first Lunar month which is believed to be a lucky day. And they all had successful trips with boats full of fish.
Under favourably warm weather, the fishing village was busy since early morning with lots of boats heading out to the sea.
According to a local fisherman, Nguyen Van Nam, 49, the first trip of the lunar year is always important.
"We believe that if the first trip is successful, we'll have good catches throughout the year," Nam stressed.
After four hours at sea, Nam returned with some 500 kilos of herring.
"We earned VND5 million (USD223) for this catch," he added.
While local men work on the sea, women and children await the return of the fishing crews.
