According to Haiphong City Police, officers received a report at 10.35 am on February 21 of a blaze in the ship’s engine room. The vessel was docked at Gia Luan pier on Cat Ba Island, in the Cat Hai Special Economic Zone.
After identifying the location of the vessel, Haiphong City Police alerted Quang Ninh Province Police to assist in firefighting operations.
The fire was fully extinguished by 11.40 am the same day. Authorities confirmed there were no casualties and that all 15 passengers and crew members were unharmed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
