Pham Thi Linh, 15 years old, lost her mother a year ago. Her father only has small rice fields and an extra job as bricklayer to raise four children.
Last November, Linh was diagnosed with tuberculosis of the hip and needed at least VND120m for bone marrow aspiration and other operations. Meanwhile, one of her leg is paralysed.
Due to the illness, Linh had to leave school, giving up the dream of becoming a doctor in the future.
After her story was published on Dantri/DTiNews, many people called and gave their encouragement. Some readers visited the family and gave them books and clothes as well as cash.
A reader from Hai Phong City made a huge donation after visiting the family. She contacted the National Pulmonary Tuberculosis Hospital in Hanoi to arrange treatment for Linh.
