During the conference on training, licensing, checking and registration of vehicles held by the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam on November 28 in Hanoi, Nguyen Van Quyen, Deputy Director of Road General Department said driving license model will be renewed from early 2010.
The new driving licenses will be in Vietnamese and English. It will be the size of a credit card; have a laminate cover; heat and water resistant, and with sophisticated technology to minimise fraud.
The renewal fee will be in the region of VND30,000 (US$1.7). The term of the licenses will be 15 years. The total cost of renewing license is estimated at VND800 billion (US$44.4 million) nationwide.
According to the Road General Department, some training, checking and registration activities are going against current regulations.
