Rescue workers had to work through night to deal with the incident.

The incident happened at around 8:30 pm on October 19 when the six-carriage train code 4401 transporting stone suddenly derailed near Phuoc Tuong Tunnel in Thua Thien - Hue.

The derailment caused three among six cars to fall into the side of the road, while another car was broken on the railway. No injuries were reported.

Rescue workers had to work through night to deal with the incident. The derailed carriages were removed from the tracks this morning.

The incident blocked railway traffics for hours

Last year, travel on the north-south railway line was interrupted for up to 20 hours after a train hit a lorry in central province of Quang Tri.

The incident saw the train driver die at the scene while the truck driver and three train crew with severe injuries were taken to a hospital in Thua Thien - Hue Province.

According to the National Traffic Safety Committee, between 2011 and 2015, Vietnam saw 2,174 railway accidents, killing 981 people and injuring 1,200 people.
