The project will be piloted in Ngu Hanh Son district before it is replicated across the city, using a US$600,000 budget funded by APEC. It is expected to be completed later this year.
To implement the project, Danang encourages the use of electricity-powered bikes, solar energy equipment, biogas, bioenergy, and energy saving lighting systems.
Earlier, in June 2012 the city submitted four projects to limit carbon emissions into natural environment, including using electricity-powered bikes, building metro routes, using renewable energy sources, and building a bus rapid transit system.
In the 2016-2020 period, the city aims to meet environmental city criteria, with 100 percent of industrial and daily use waste water to be treated, 70 percent of solid waste recycled and 25 percent of water reused.
