Daily Covid-19 infections continue falling

The number of new Covid-19 infections continued to drop with 18,474 cases recorded on Saturday, down 1,602 cases from the previous day, according to the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 62 out of 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (1,361), Phu Tho (1,070), Bac Giang (874), Nghe An (853), and Quang Ninh (824). Quang Ninh Province today added 4,880 infection cases to the national tally.

As of Saturday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 10,417,887. The country now stands 12th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,532,405), HCM City (606,199), Nghe An (475,228), Binh Duong (382,552), and Bac Giang (379,817).

On April 16, an additional 68,330 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 8,931,374.

On Saturday evening, a further 10 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 42,934. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Dak Lak (2), Ben Tre (1), Binh Dinh (1), Can Tho (1), Dong Nai (1), Lang Son (1), Phu Tho (1), Soc Trang (1), and Vinh Long (1).

Vietnam on April 15 administered 199,855 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 209.30 million.
