Chairman of the Da Nang City People’s Committee, Mr. Huynh Duc Tho, was quoted by local media as saying that the UAV will be used to determine the location of a new railway station and track improvements in Lien Chieu district.

The city has assigned its Department of Construction to research and find suppliers of the UAV.

Department Director Vu Quang Hung said the UAV will have a camera installed and software will be used to supervise the city’s urban development projects.

Da Nang was the first city in Vietnam to launch urban management via a Facebook page, in 2013.

The social network helped relevant departments address issues regarding environmental pollution, social disorder, traffic, tourism, and illegal acts.

Last year its traffic police and transport department also opened their own Facebook pages to interact with local people and tourists.

The city has already installed cameras at more than 4,700 sites, to monitor traffic accidents and congestion.

Da Nang will host the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in November.
