
According to the plan, the construction of the second runway, some taxiways, and other works will be carried out between 2024-2027 with estimated investment of over VND3 trillion.
An additional VND1.200 trillion will be used for the removal of some military works to expand the airport, which will be done between 2027-2032.
Other works will also be carried out during the same period, including expanding the aircraft apron, building a third terminal, a parking and fuel area, among others with total investment of VND3.13 trillion.
According to the Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee, Phu Cat Airport holds a significant position in promoting socio-economic development. However, the airport is currently overloaded, especially during the peak season. Its current state of deterioration is also a bottleneck for local socio-economic development and security.
The province has targeted that after the upgrade work, Phu Cat Airport will have a capacity of five million passengers and 12,000 tonnes of cargo a year by 2030.
And the capacity will be increased to seven million passengers and 27,000 tonnes of cargo a year by 20250.
