The famous American boy band Backstreet Boys will perform at the Military Zone 7 stadium in Ho Chi Minh City on March 24 and at the My Dinh national stadium in Hanoi on March 26.
According to Water Buffalo Productions, the event organisers, the performances are part of the band’s worldwide tour entitled ‘This is Us’, which began in autumn 2009.
At the shows, the Backstreet Boys, who are Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell and A.J.McLean, will heat up the stadiums with hits from their ‘This is Us’ album, which brought them a taste of fame with tracks such as ‘I Want it That Way’, ‘I’ll Never Break Your Heart’ and ‘Straight Through My Heart’.
As part of the events, a singing contest was launched for Backstreet Boys’ fans from across the country with a VND 10 million first prize (around US$500). Participants in the contest can cover the band’s songs and upload their records to the event’s official website at www.bsb.com.vn.
Tickets can be booked online through the website with prices ranging from VND 500,000 (around US$25) to VND 2,000,000 (around US$100).
The Backstreet Boys’ album ‘Millennium’ achieved record-breaking sales of 13 million by March 2001 after being released in May of 1999 and was mentioned in the 2003 Guinness Book of World Records as the ‘Biggest Selling Album By A Boy Band’. In 2005, the band, reputed to be the only band to win a record four World Music Awards in three successive years (1999-2001), also established themselves among the top 500 world-leading pop artists over the past 25 years. In April, 2006, they were presented with the Recording Academy Honours award for their success and contributions to the music industry.
