After over a week of undergoing treatment at the National Burn Hospital, baby Loi, who was burned in an accident is recovering.
He suffered severe 2nd and 3rd degree burns but doctors are hopeful that he will recover.
On February 1, DTiNews returned to the National Burn Hospital to visit Loi. Loi’s mother, Tuyen, looked more cheerful than in previous days. She told me that his wounds were better and that now was able to eat food and rest.
“Sometimes Loi cries but he does not feel as much pain as he did a few days ago, he also seems to be more aware. I would like to give my sincere thanks for all of the support, help and the special care from doctors and kindhearted people for my little son,” said Tuyen.
Doctor Nguyen Nhu Lam said that, “Loi's condition is now under control and there’s no complication from his wounds. However, we still need to apply anesthesia before changing his dressing."
Loi’s health has improved and he is now able to eat food and sleep better.
According to Lam, it’s quite difficult to predict his recovery because there are many complications. With a total body surface area of 60% being burned, half of which are 3rd degree, unforeseen problems such as septicemia or pneumonia can occur.
“We have been exerting all of our efforts to save Loi and we are also appreciative for the help and support of so many people that have aided in Loi's treatments and healing,” Lam added.
Tuyen has received much support and help from kind-hearted people after her son’s heartbreaking story was reported by DTiNews. Up to now; Loi has received VND200 million (US$10,767) in donations from readers.
“I feel very hopeful that he can overcome and I want to say a big thanks for all the kindhearted people who help us. I want to spend some money to help others who have suffered from burns,” Tuyen shared.
