Sappers from the Thai Binh Provincial Military High Command have succeeded in disabling a 500-pound bomb. The bomb was unearthed by an excavator whilst building a sea dyke in Thai Thuong commune, Thai Thuy district, northern Thai Binh province on April 21.
Lieutenant Colonel Vu Dinh Cuong from the Command said the heavy bomb was dropped by the US troops between 1972 and 1973.
The site has been sealed off by the military until the bomb can be safely detonated, said Cuong.
