The patient was a 69-year-old man from Hai Chau District. He was confirmed to have SARS-CoV-2 on August 6.

During the treatment, his condition kept worsening and needed a ventilator and then extracorporeal life support.

He already had heart failure, type 2 diabetes, kidney failure and atrial fibrillation.

He died at Danang Lung Hospital and was diagnosed with pneumonia and progressive respiratory failure due to Covid-19, complications due to septic shock, multi-organ failure and heart attack.

Vietnam has recorded 1,040 Covid-19 cases with 695 recovered cases and 33 deaths.

All of the deaths are related to the outbreak in Danang. Most of them were in old age or had serious underlying conditions like cancer, kidney failure and blood pressure.
