250kg bomb unearthed after heavy rain in Daklak

A 250kg wartime bomb was exposed by soil erosion following heavy rain in Daklak Province and was safely detonated by local authorities.

Authorities in Daklak Province successfully detonated an unexploded MK-82 bomb left over from the war on November 6.

The bomb was uncovered in Krong Bong Commune after successive heavy downpours caused soil and sand erosion, exposing the large explosive device that had been buried underground for many years. Local residents discovered the bomb and promptly notified the authorities.

An inspection identified the device as a 500-pound MK-82 bomb, measuring 1.2 metres in length and weighing 250kg.

Authorities subsequently transported the bomb to a military training ground in Hoa Son Commune, Daklak Province, where it was safely detonated in accordance with technical procedures.
