The municipal Public Transport Management Centre said routes 23 and 64 would be affected by construction barriers around Nguyen Hong Dao Station (ST08) on the metro line.
From November 7, route 23, connecting Cho Lon Bus Station and Cau Lon, will be diverted via Au Co, Nguyen Hong Dao, Bau Cat, Truong Cong Dinh and Truong Chinh streets in the outbound direction.
The return journey will follow the same streets in reverse order before rejoining its regular route.
Route 64, linking Mien Dong Bus Station and Dam Sen, will retain its existing itinerary towards Dam Sen, while services travelling towards Mien Dong will be diverted around the Nguyen Hong Dao and Bay Hien station construction sites.
Near Nguyen Hong Dao Station, buses will use Dong Den Street instead of Nguyen Hong Dao Street to reach Truong Chinh.
Around Bay Hien Station, buses will be redirected via Ly Thuong Kiet Street and the Lac Long Quan roundabout before returning to Hoang Van Thu Street.
The municipal Department of Construction has also announced traffic restrictions on Truong Chinh Street between Truong Cong Dinh and Dong Den from November 7.
Trucks and passenger vehicles, excluding buses, will be prohibited from travelling from Truong Cong Dinh towards Dong Den. Alternative routes will run through Truong Cong Dinh, Bau Cat or Bau Cat 1, and Dong Den streets.
Meanwhile, construction barriers installed from November 6 along the central road and part of Inter-Zone Road 3 (Nguyen Binh Khiem) at Vietnam National University-HCM City have prompted changes to 11 additional bus routes.
The affected services are routes 8, 10, 19, 33, 50, 52, 53, 99, 166, 170 and 60-5.
These diversions will remain in effect until December 31, 2026.
Buses will use surrounding roads, including Tan Lap, Nguyen Hien, Nguyen Binh Khiem, Thanh Giong and Ta Quang Buu, to bypass construction areas, while the rest of their routes will remain unchanged.
