The groundbreaking ceremony took place on November 6, attended by former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, former Politburo member Le Hong Anh and senior officials from An Giang Province and Phu Quoc Special Zone.

Located in central Duong Dong, the project covers more than two hectares and will feature nine above-ground floors and one basement level.
The building will house the special zone's Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and other administrative agencies.
Its architecture draws inspiration from the theme of unity and reaching out to sea, symbolising Phu Quoc's ambition for modern development.
The centre is expected to serve as a major hub for political, administrative and external affairs activities, including coordination and organisation of international events associated with APEC 2027.
Speaking at the ceremony, Tran Minh Khoa, chairman of the Phu Quoc Special Zone People's Committee, said the island was entering a new phase of development after being selected to host the APEC Economic Leaders' Week in 2027.
He said the new centre would bring government agencies currently operating from separate locations under one roof, improving working conditions, administrative efficiency and services for residents and businesses.
Construction is scheduled for completion in 2027.
