Vung Tau Ward in HCM City is investing more than VND 31.8 billion (USD 1.24 million) in upgrading several parks to improve the urban landscape and public spaces.

Under a decision approved by the Vung Tau Ward People's Committee, the 2026 urban renovation project covers four sites: Le Quy Don Park, Bai Truoc Park, Tran Hung Dao Park and the Martyrs' Memorial.

The project has a total investment of VND 31.8 billion (USD 1.24 million) and is scheduled for implementation in 2026-2027.

Construction work is underway at Le Quy Don Park and Bai Truoc Park, where workers and machinery are on site. These are the two largest components of the project, with construction budgets of more than VND 11.7 billion and VND 12.3 billion, respectively.

At Le Quy Don Park, the upgrades will focus on internal roads, pavements and the car park. The children's playground and seating areas will also be renovated, while existing exercise equipment and play facilities will be repaired and maintained.

The park will also receive additional trees and greenery, along with a new lighting system and automated irrigation.

At Bai Truoc Park, the project will upgrade the internal roads around the square. The children's playground will be improved with clean sand and EPDM rubber flooring, while existing play equipment will be repaired.

The outdoor exercise area will also be resurfaced, its equipment maintained, and more trees planted.

A new landscape lighting system is planned for Bai Truoc Park, including a five-metre-high artistic tree-shaped lamp post in the square to create a visual highlight at night.

Tran Hung Dao Park and the Martyrs' Memorial will also undergo renovations and upgrades.

The ward authorities said the investment aims to improve the urban landscape, make better use of public spaces and provide residents with more places for recreation and relaxation. It is also expected to help attract tourists, support socio-economic development and improve quality of life.

Alongside the renovation of existing parks, the Vung Tau Ward People's Committee is seeking public feedback on a 1:500 detailed plan for Tao Phung Park.

Covering 5.65 hectares, the proposed park falls within the 1:2,000 zoning plan for the Big Mountain-Little Mountain area. It is intended to create a green space combining ecological, cultural and spiritual landscapes overlooking the sea.

The plan proposes a 5,000-square-metre multi-purpose square, a large outdoor stage, a sea-viewing platform and two separate passenger pick-up and drop-off areas.
