The projects are part of the province's public investment programme aimed at strengthening transport infrastructure and supporting economic development.
The province plans to allocate VND 500 billion to extend Hung Vuong Road by approximately eight kilometres through Ai Tu Commune, Trieu Phong Commune and Quang Tri Ward.

Between 2021 and 2025, Quang Tri invested VND 93 billion in a 2.1-kilometre section connecting Nam Dong Ha Ward with Provincial Road 579 in Ai Tu Commune.
The existing route runs parallel to National Highway 1A and connects with National Highways 9D and 9, providing access to Lao Bao International Border Gate and the East-West Economic Corridor.
Once completed in 2030, the extended road is expected to improve connections between Dong Ha, a major urban centre in southern Quang Tri, and neighbouring areas, particularly the East-West Economic Corridor and the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone.
Nguyen Duc Long, vice chairman of Ai Tu Commune People's Committee, said the project was expected to boost local economic development and attract investment.
Another VND 748 billion will be allocated to complete the upgrade and expansion of a 13.8-kilometre section of National Highway 9 linking Cua Viet Port with National Highway 1.
The road will be built to Class III lowland road standards, with a design speed of 80 kilometres per hour, four motor vehicle lanes and two lanes for non-motorised traffic.
Construction began in March 2022 with investment exceeding VND 440 billion, financed through a World Bank loan.
However, land clearance delays meant only 10 per cent of the work had been completed by the loan disbursement deadline of December 31, 2022.
The World Bank did not extend the loan agreement, forcing the project to be halted.
The upgraded road, scheduled for completion in 2030, is expected to improve freight transport between Cua Viet Port, National Highway 1A, the North-South Expressway, the East-West Economic Corridor and Lao Bao International Border Gate.
It is also expected to support logistics, port services, tourism and coastal urban development.
The third project involves VND 540 billion for an 8.85-kilometre road connecting Quang Tri Airport with National Highways 1A and 9D.
Scheduled for completion in 2030, the road will strengthen airport access, regional connectivity and economic development along the province's coast.
Quang Tri Airport, located across Cua Viet and Gio Linh communes, has investment exceeding VND 5.8 trillion.
Construction began in July 2024, with commercial operations expected to start in March 2027.
