The Dong Nai City Federation of Labour announced the programme on November 4, aiming to help disadvantaged workers reunite with their families for Tet.
Under the plan, 3,000 one-way bus tickets will be provided for workers travelling from Dong Nai to destinations from Gia Lai northwards, including Danang, Quang Tri, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa and Hanoi.
The buses are scheduled to depart on January 31, February 1 and February 2, 2027, corresponding to the 24th, 25th and 26th days of the final lunar month.
Eligible applicants must be trade union members or employees of businesses and organisations that paid union contributions before October 31, 2026. They must also comply with relevant regulations and actively participate in trade union activities.
Priority will be given to low-income workers and those facing financial hardship, workplace accidents, occupational diseases or serious illnesses.
Workers affected by reduced working hours, job losses, unpaid wages or bonuses, and natural disasters will also receive priority, alongside ethnic minority workers and relatives of people recognised for their contributions to the country.
The programme will also prioritise workers with outstanding achievements and those unable to return home for Tet in both 2025 and 2026.
Workers who received free Tet transport through the federation's 2026 programme will not be eligible this time.
In addition to free outbound journeys, the federation will provide financial assistance for workers returning to Dong Nai after the holiday.
Those resuming work before February 15, 2027, will be eligible for reimbursement equivalent to the applicable bus fare, subject to valid tickets and confirmation from their employers and workplace trade unions.
