The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said on November 4 that a weak cold air mass, combined with wind convergence at an altitude of 1,500 metres, could bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to the northern region, with heavy rain in mountainous areas. The northern delta is expected to enjoy sunny conditions during the day.
The weather pattern is forecast to persist across northern Vietnam through November 5.
Around November 6, another surge of cold air is expected to bring rain and thunderstorms to the region. The cold air mass will be reinforced from November 7 to 9, causing temperatures to fall significantly, with some mountainous areas likely to experience cold conditions.
Minimum temperatures in northern Vietnam could drop below 20 degrees Celsius on November 9, while some areas in the northern mountains may see temperatures fall below 18 degrees Celsius.
The weather agency said parts of central Vietnam would experience scattered showers and thunderstorms in the coming days, with heavy rain forecast across the region from November 8 to 11.
In Lam Dong Province and southern Vietnam, daytime conditions are expected to remain sunny, with scattered showers and thunderstorms likely in the late afternoon and evening.
