Of the cases detected, more than 217,000 involved motorbike and moped riders, while nearly 104,000 involved car drivers.

In recent months, HCM City traffic police have stepped up patrols and inspections to detect and strictly penalise violations that contribute to road accidents. They have also expanded the use of camera footage to handle administrative violations and improve traffic safety enforcement.

Traffic police urged residents and organisations to take greater responsibility for managing and safeguarding vehicles registered in their names.
