During the flight, a German male passenger suddenly suffered a seizure. Cabin crew responded by providing assistance and seeking medical help on board.
After examining the passenger, a doctor travelling on the aircraft determined that he needed urgent medical attention and recommended landing so he could be taken to hospital.
The flight crew therefore decided to divert to Islamabad International Airport, approximately halfway through the journey from HCM City to Munich.
After being notified, Vietnam Airlines coordinated with ground service providers at the airport to arrange assistance for the passenger.
Once the passenger had been safely disembarked, the aircraft refuelled and obtained clearance to continue its journey to Munich. The airline also worked with relevant parties to assist passengers affected by missed connecting flights.
Earlier, on September 5, flight VN38 from Copenhagen to HCM City made an emergency diversion to Yangon, Myanmar, after a pregnant passenger went into labour and gave birth on board.
Vietnam Airlines advises passengers to monitor their health before travelling. Those experiencing unusual symptoms or existing health problems should consult a doctor and inform the airline to receive appropriate advice and assistance.
