The project, funded by the provincial government's medium-term public investment budget, will be managed by the provincial Military Command.
Clearance operations will cover Hoa Trach, Trung Thuan, Nam Trach, Ben Quan, Vinh Thuy and Sen Ngu communes.

Under the approved plan, teams will survey and clear approximately 2,400 hectares of land to a depth of 0.5 metres, including locating, collecting, classifying, transporting and safely destroying unexploded bombs and other explosive remnants of war.
Cleared areas will undergo safety inspections before being handed over for use.
Quang Tri remains heavily affected by wartime explosives, with unexploded ordnance continuing to threaten residents and hinder farming, infrastructure development and land use.
The provincial People's Committee has instructed the Military Command to coordinate with relevant agencies and local authorities to complete the project's feasibility study and submit it for approval.
The Military Command must also complete planning, environmental and land-related procedures, ensure effective use of public funds and avoid overlapping with other approved clearance projects.
The project forms part of Vietnam's national action programme to address the consequences of unexploded wartime ordnance for 2026-2045.
Authorities expect the clearance work to improve public safety and make more land available for agriculture, investment and long-term economic development.
