The APEC Convention Centre has a roof footprint of 52,000 square metres and a total floor area of 153,130 square metres, including its basement. Standing more than 39 metres tall, the building comprises three above-ground floors, a basement and a technical rooftop level.

Under the design, the ground floor will house a main lobby, service facilities and restaurants. The second floor will feature around 30 meeting rooms of varying sizes, with movable partitions allowing flexible configurations.

The third floor will accommodate official APEC leaders' meetings and a 3,000-square-metre space that can be partitioned for banquets.

The centre will also include a large ballroom for banquets, exhibitions and indoor performances, alongside a media centre designed to accommodate more than 3,000 journalists.

Its roof, incorporating approximately 12,000 tonnes of structural steel, is inspired by 13 layers of ocean waves associated with coastal fishing villages.

All 13 roof spans have been installed, with workers now completing the upper roofing layers. The exterior is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2026, followed by interior works in March 2027.

At the heart of the convention centre is an 11,050-square-metre ballroom featuring an 81-metre column-free span, described by the project as a world record.

The massive steel roof beams will remain exposed rather than being concealed behind a decorative ceiling, creating an open, modern interior.

Covered walkways along both sides of the convention centre will measure 300 metres long and 10 metres wide, helping manage visitor movement while providing shelter from tropical weather.

Several major structural components of the performance venue have been completed, with work continuing on its columns and other elements.

The building's exterior is scheduled to be enclosed in the fourth quarter of 2026, with interior works targeted for completion by the end of March 2027.

An Giang provincial authorities have instructed contractors and relevant agencies to strengthen quality control, construction safety, inspections, testing and trial operations, particularly for large-scale projects involving new technologies or special implementation mechanisms.

For the APEC Convention Centre, the investor must fulfil its commitments and take responsibility for the structural integrity and load-bearing safety of the building and its components, while specialised authorities carry out inspections and supervision within their respective mandates.
