Ha Lien Village, in Hoa Thang Ward, Khanh Hoa Province, occupies a roughly two-hectare strip of land surrounded by aquaculture ponds belonging to local residents in the Nha Phu Lagoon area.

According to local residents, the village was established in 1653, during the Nguyen dynasty.

With its unspoilt charm and tranquil setting amid the lagoon, the village has attracted growing numbers of visitors.

Most houses in Ha Lien are single-storey homes built close together, while a dense network of narrow lanes, just one to two metres wide, winds through the residential area.

The village resembles an island oasis, standing out amid the surrounding aquaculture ponds and mangrove forests.

Despite the many upheavals of history, Ha Lien has retained its traditional character and old-world architecture.

Residents’ livelihoods are closely tied to aquaculture and fishing. People live in harmony and support one another, creating a close-knit and welcoming community.

With its unspoilt scenery, peaceful atmosphere and distinctive cultural heritage, Ha Lien has potential for ecotourism and community-based tourism.

Visitors can experience life in a traditional fishing village, take part in fishing activities, sample fresh seafood dishes and explore the natural beauty of Nha Phu Lagoon.
