Duong Van Son, deputy head of the Economic Division of Chan May-Lang Co Commune, said on October 24 that authorities and residents were removing structures encroaching on public beaches and access routes in Binh An, Loan Ly and Dong Duong villages.

Six beachfront restaurants were found encroaching on public land. Two at Canh Duong Beach have partially removed illegal structures, with all demolition work due by October 30.
According to local residents, several restaurants were built years ago and gradually expanded onto the beaches, with concrete pillars, raised platforms and roofs erected to accommodate customers.
The encroachments have restricted public access to beaches in Lang Co Bay, a popular tourist destination recognised for its scenic coastline.

Following an inspection of land use and planning regulations, local authorities began working with restaurant owners to secure the voluntary removal of unauthorised structures.
One restaurant owner in Dong Duong said they would comply with the demolition order but hoped authorities would designate suitable areas where local businesses could continue serving tourists.
Dinh Ngoc Hung, chairman of the Chan May-Lang Co Commune People's Committee, said cleared areas would be documented and monitored to prevent further encroachments.
The commune also plans to improve access to public beaches while reviewing suitable locations for tourism businesses in accordance with planning and legal requirements.
