Danang puts local cuisine on digital food map

Danang City is expanding digital food maps and online delivery services to promote local cuisine, attract tourists and boost sales for traditional food vendors.

A digital food map introduced at the Danang Food Tour Festival 2026 featured more than 200 food stalls, allowing visitors to locate restaurants and discover regional specialities through their smartphones.

The city is also working with delivery platforms GrabFood and ShopeeFood to bring traditional dishes, including Quang Noodles, grilled pork rolls and pork wrapped in rice paper, to a wider audience.

At Con Market, Grab has launched a digital transformation programme to help traders open online stores, manage orders, accept cashless payments and promote their products.

Huynh Thi Xuan Mai, a food vendor at the market, said online platforms could help local specialities reach customers beyond traditional markets, including tourists unfamiliar with the city's food scene.

Grab Vietnam executive Ma Tuan Trong said the initiative would help small businesses adopt technology, expand sales channels and promote Danang as a culinary destination.

The city is also developing a digital food map with ShopeeFood, enabling visitors to search for local dishes and food outlets as part of its wider smart tourism programme.

Vice Chairwoman of the Danang People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi said digital food promotion must preserve local cultural identity while strengthening the city's tourism brand.

Authorities plan to introduce selection criteria for featured food businesses and integrate QR codes providing information on product origins and traceability.

The municipal Department of Industry and Trade also plans to select 10 traditional markets for a digital food market programme, focusing on online sales, cashless payments and food safety.

Officials are considering a Danang Food Card and expanding the availability of local speciality and OCOP products on online delivery platforms.

The initiatives form part of the city's broader push to develop an integrated digital tourism ecosystem and strengthen its appeal as a culinary destination.
