Police in Cam Linh Ward said on October 22 that they had worked with local authorities and the Cam Lam-Cam Ranh Forest Protection Department to receive the python, which belongs to Group IIB, a category covering endangered, precious and rare forest animals.

The animal was handed over voluntarily by Huynh Cong Phu, a resident of Loi Tho residential quarter in Cam Linh Ward.
The Cam Lam-Cam Ranh Forest Protection Department is completing the necessary procedures to release the python back into its natural habitat in accordance with regulations.
Khanh Hoa provincial police have urged residents not to hunt, trap, kill, keep, transport, trade or illegally consume wildlife or products derived from wild animals.
Residents have also been advised against buying or keeping wild animals in captivity without first identifying the species and ensuring that all legal requirements are met.
Anyone already keeping a wild animal, or who finds one in need of rescue, should contact the police, forest protection authorities or other competent agencies for guidance on its proper handling. Residents should not release wild animals into the wild on their own without appropriate instructions.
