The emergency response team will receive calls through hotlines 113 and 114, assess and forward reports involving public security, fires and explosions, and help coordinate response teams.
The initiative will allow police to assess operating procedures, technical infrastructure and coordination between agencies before implementing a proposed system integrating the three emergency numbers.
Hotline 113 handles police emergencies, 114 covers fire and rescue services, while 115 provides medical emergency assistance.
For now, HCM City police will focus on improving the effectiveness of hotline 113 and raising public awareness so residents know which number to call in an emergency.
The newly established science and technology club will bring together officers with expertise and interests in technology, innovation and digital transformation.
It aims to encourage research, professional exchanges and practical technological solutions to support policing and public security.
Speaking at the event, a deputy director of HCM City Police said the initiatives represented an important step towards modernising police operations rather than merely ceremonial activities.
He called for both units to begin delivering practical results immediately, improving services for residents and businesses while strengthening the force's operational efficiency.
