HCM City Traffic Police said on October 19 that the violations were detected during a month-long enforcement campaign at the start of the new school year.
The most common offences were failing to wear helmets and operating vehicles below the legal minimum age, both of which pose serious safety risks to young road users.

Police step up checks around schools
During the campaign, traffic police increased patrols near schools, particularly during morning arrivals and afternoon departures.
Officers focused on offences linked to road accidents, including riding without helmets and operating vehicles without meeting legal requirements.
Police also worked with local authorities to inspect parking facilities inside and around schools to identify students using vehicles they were not legally permitted to operate.

Parents face penalties for allowing underage driving
Traffic police said they would continue deploying officers near school gates during peak hours to manage traffic and enforce regulations.
Schools will be notified of violations involving their students so they can provide appropriate education and disciplinary measures.
Police also pledged to investigate and penalise parents and vehicle owners who allow children to operate vehicles before reaching the legal driving age.
Authorities stressed that improving student road safety requires cooperation between police, schools and families, alongside greater awareness among students themselves.
