Traveloka’s third-quarter SEA Index ranked Phu Quoc first among five emerging destinations added to its regional rankings, ahead of Hangzhou, London, Nagoya and Paris. The island exceeded the platform’s growth benchmarks in all five markets it monitors: Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Traveloka said Phu Quoc was rapidly becoming a popular regional destination as it prepared to host the APEC 2027 Economic Leaders’ Week.
The island also performed strongly in individual markets. It topped the list of fastest-growing international destinations among Indonesian travellers, featured among the leading growth destinations for Malaysian visitors, and ranked among the five fastest-growing domestic destinations for Vietnamese travellers.
The Traveloka findings come as Phu Quoc continues to attract international recognition from readers of travel publications.
In the US edition of Condé Nast Traveler’s 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards, Phu Quoc topped the list of Asian islands with a score of 95.26, marking its fifth consecutive year on the list. In the UK edition, it scored 98.26, ranking second in Asia and recording the second-highest score when compared with island rankings worldwide.

Hosting APEC 2027 is also driving a major wave of infrastructure investment on the island. Projects to expand Phu Quoc International Airport, develop a convention and exhibition centre, build a multipurpose performance venue and complete key road links are progressing in parallel to improve connectivity, visitor capacity and the island’s ability to host international events.
